On Friday, June 1, Freedom’s track and field athletes traveled three hours to compete at John B. Todd Stadium for the outdoor state championship. Freedom’s athletes competed against 58 other schools from the 6A class in Virginia. 2 individual athletes competed in running events for Freedom, along with 2 relays, and 3 competing in field events.
These track and field athletes worked hard all season long were able to compete at the biggest meet of the season. In total Freedom had 11 athletes who competed which surpasses the 7 that participated in last years outdoor state championship.
Competing State Athletes:
Josh Johnson – 100 and 200 meter dash – Placed 9th in the 100 and 8th in the 200.
Greg Borden – 3200 meter and 1600 meter run – Placed 11th in the 3200 and 25th in the 1600 .
Amir McMillian, Shlok Chavda, Pritam Setty, Josh Johsnon – Boys 4×100 meter relay – Placed 16th.
Aliana Coleman, Gabby Zanga, Addison Pounder, Emilia Hummel – Girl 4×400 meter relay – Placed 18th.
Gabby Zanga – Triple Jump – Placed 9th.
Cole Hagn – Shot put – Placed 15th.
Andrew Koch – Discus Throw – Placed 14th.
