On Saturday, June 15, Freedom High School hosted their graduation ceremony for the class of 2024 at the Eagle Bank Arena at George Mason University. During the ceremony, there were four guest speakers including 2024 co-valedictorian Andrew Liu, class speaker Yasmeen Ashour, commencement speaker Pastor Michelle C. Thomas and FHS principal Neelum Chaudry. They gave multiple speeches throughout the night congratulating the class of 2024 and wishing them the best of luck for all of their new journeys as they move into college.
For the first time in Freedom history, the class of 2024 had co-valedictorians, Andrew Liu and Jocelyn Chang. Both students had a tied GPA and were both given this prestigious title and the honor to graduate first in their class.
In retrospect to this, the Freedom class of 2024 students will be representing the school across 89 college campuses with a variety of interests! Some students will also be going straight into the workplace, taking a gap year, or enlisting in the military. The class was offered $10.6 million dollars in scholarships, having accepted $4.1 million dollars.
Freedom students will be attending colleges all around the country, going as far as UCLA in California. A majority of 2024 graduates will be staying in-state and will be going to schools such as James Madison University, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth University and Northern Virginia Community College. Out of all applications, Virginia Tech remained the most popular applied to in-state school, with Pennstate the most popular applied to out-of-state school.
