On March 5, the Freedom Chorus hosted a Pre-Assessment Concert as a way to prepare for their upcoming assessment concert on March 14 at Briar Woods High School where they will be judged and scored. A Pre-Assessment concert is needed because the assessment concert reflects and showcases all of the work that the different choirs have been working hard on all year. The choir students have been faced with the anticipation of assessment since the beginning of the year.
During the Pre-Assessment Concert, each choir performed two choir pieces. The choirs that performed were the Lunsford 8th Grade Choir, Treble Chorus, Bass Chorus and Bella Voce. The songs that the Lunsford 8th Grade Choir sang included “The Wind and Lightning.” Treble Chorus sang “Sigh No More,” “Ladies” and “Orde-e.” Bass Chorus performed “Inveniam Viam” and “Yonder Come Day.” The final chorus, Bella Voce, sang “Lilacs and Rain” and “Itken Pois.” A practice of a sight-reading, which is an exercise for the judges, was also done by Bella Voce.
