Freedom High School will begin a new chapter on July 1 as Tania Brown steps into the role of principal. After a thorough and meticulous process, the announcement was made Monday, May 6 as Brown was greeted and welcomed by the Freedom High School staff.
Brown, an assistant principal at Park View High School for the past three years, and previous assistant principal of Manassas Park Elementary, brings more than 15 years of experience in education to FHS.
As a part of the transition, Brown intends on having an opportunity over the summer where students, staff and families will get a chance to meet her before the school year begins.
“My goal is to come in and get to know the community,” Brown said. “That is my number one goal.”
Brown stated she plans to make sure all students leave high school prepared and ready for life post school.
She takes over the role following the retirement of Neelum Chaudhry. Chaudhry has been principal for more than four years and a part of the FHS community for 20 years.
While students have expressed their sadness about the leaving of long time principal Chaudhry, they have shown their optimism about FHS’ newest addition.
“Although I will miss Mrs. Chaudhry, I am excited to see what Mrs. Brown will bring to our school, and how she will be a new addition to the Freedom community,” said junior Kiera Dennison.
The FHS community should receive an email this summer regarding when the principal meet and greet will take place.
