With all the time Freedom students had over the summer, everyone seems to have been up to something new, whether it be finding a new hobby or achieving a goal. Some students had improved on their old hobbies, brushing off the dust, and some even learned something new.

During his free time, sophomore Max Grefe enjoys playing video games and longboarding, and the long vacation gave him time to practice his skills.

“My summer was good,” Grefe said. “I spent a lot of it longboarding.”

Elaine Jin, a senior, had a relatively similar experience. Although she was also able to do something she enjoyed more often, she was also held back from a few things as well.

“I couldn’t hang out with friends, or go outside in general,” Jin said. “Kind of a bummer, but I did start working at Kumon, so getting to work with kids is real fun and heartwarming. In addition, I started going out on walks more and learned how to bake bread.”
