Freedom High School HOPE Club students participated in the first Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics held at John Champe High School on June 7.

Students from FHS, Champe, and Lightridge high schools helped carry the Flame of Hope to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympic athletes in VA.

“A colleague at John Champe reached out to me and invited us to attend the event,” said Suzanne Burch, HOPE Club Co-Sponsor and Unified Sport Leadership team member.

HOPE Club members enjoyed helping their buddies run the 5K race.

“It was so much fun,” said junior Finley Gray. “I loved talking with the buddies. My favorite part was singing along to the songs with Sanjay.”

The event was hosted by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
