School closing announcement

A November snow day was probably the last thing students and teachers across LCPS were expecting. The rumors for a possible snow day started when students and staff looked at the weather app and saw the chance of snow on Thursday.  Students were probably ecstatic at the possibility of staying home.

The chance of a LCPS snow day started to become possibility when Prince William County Schools closed before snow had even hit the ground. After PWCS had closed for Nov. 15, LCPS tweeted an hour later that they were closing. This was followed by a call from LCPS information officer, Wayde Byard. Temperatures warmed up, and the snow started to melt. But, enough was still on the ground, especially in western Loudoun, that the decision was made to open schools on a 2-hour delay for Friday, Nov. 16.
