Freedom High School’s indoor track season came to an end on Feb. 4, launching the team right into the postseason. All athletes who qualified for districts competed at the Potomac District Championship meet at Rock Ridge High School. The sunny weather was ideal, a relief to athletes after the past two meets were canceled due to poor weather conditions.
Both the Freedom boys and girls team placed second overall at the meet. The top performers were (grades?) Ryan Borden, Samantha Tiong, Long Nguyen and Emily Kuni. With the completion of districts, the athletes who have qualified for the regional meet are furiously training in preparation for their competitions on Feb. 13-14 at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Center in Landover, Maryland.
