During National Suicide Prevention Week many people have been talking and posting on social media about the growing problem of suicide in American schools. Suicide rates among teens in the U.S. have reached their highest levels since 2000. In 2017, more than 47,000 Americans took their own lives. Every social media platform has been joining together to try reducing the numbers of suicide.

A campaign called #BeThe1To was started during National Suicide Prevention Week to help create a community of support. This campaign is designed to be a first-aid kit for suicide signs. It has all the prevention tips one could think of to spot the signs of suicide.

It’s important to talk about the growing problem of suicide and bring it to everyone’s attention to make sure that friends and family don’t miss the signs of suicide. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for children age 10-18. Being able to point out the signs will help prevent it in the future.
