At the South Riding Recreation Center the Freedom Eagles swim team competed against Broad Run High School on Dec. 15.

Although Freedom girls lost to Broad Run by four points, junior Abby Harrington is excited about this swim season’s future. While she did not break any personal records during this meet, Harrington came first in the 500-meter freestyle and came second in the 100-meter breaststroke.

“I’m hoping to improve my endurance so I can drop time in all my events and make states,” Harrington said.

Swim requires a lot of stamina and for some FHS swimmers, they believe that consistent practice helps them perform better during meets where they often have to compete in multiple races.

Despite having a morning practice just a few hours earlier, junior Alex Shen came first in three of the four races he competed in. Shen and other members on the swim team hope to make some personal records before the end of the season.
