Unified Track takes first place at first ever regional meet

On Saturday, May 11, FHS Unified Track placed first in the Potomac Region Track and Field Championship for Unified Sports. The event was hosted by Special Olympics and included nine unified teams from the region. As Unified Sports teams have become more mainstream in the area, events like the Potomac Championship have become possible.

There were 22 events in all; athletes and partner athletes competed together throughout all of the events, from sprints to relays to long jumps.

As FHS’ team walked off the track in victory, they began to sing “We Are the Champions” to celebrate the end of the season and placing first in the meet.
